A bill that would eliminate the requirement for Southern Zone hunters to display a back tag in the field and instead provide electronic proof (where possible) of licensure has passed both houses and is likely headed for the desk of Gov. Kathy Hochul.
The bill, A10565/S8644, requires that a person hold a license, tag or privilege in an electronic or other acceptable format (print) pursuant to regulations for the hunting of deer and bear.
