Since 2013 New York gun owners have had to deal with the confusion that ensued after the passage of the NYSAFE Act. Like many residents of New York, I was unsure if I had just become a criminal by simply possessing an AR-15 that I’d legally owned for years.
Getting real answers from anyone of authority back then seemed impossible. Everyone had serious questions and we all had to choose how to proceed, and carefully. A decade (11 years, actually) later, the dust has settled a bit and there seems to be some clearer options for anyone wishing to utilize the AR-15 platform in a way that’s legal in this state and still appealing.
