As the largest lake in a metropolitan area of more than 400,000 people, Madison’s Lake Mendota draws plenty of anglers year-round.
There are a number of reasons for that, including a diverse fishery that includes everything from panfish to walleyes to carp to muskies to channel catfish. Anglers also have their choice of several boat landings and shore-fishing sites.
